Ruby Simpson

Ruby Pickrell Simpson, 75 of Burlington passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at her home. She was born in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late George Luther and Virginia Knowles Pickrell. She was married for 53 years to Carl F. Simpson who survives. Ruby retired from Stevenson and Vestal and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She had a passion for cooking and collecting recipes. She is survived by her husband of the home; daughter, Linda Kenneth Rivers of Burlington; sons, Ronald Simpson and Donald Simpson, both of Burlington and her niece who was more like a sister, Margaret Jennielane Pennington. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Roy Pickrell, Melvin Pickrell, Frances P. Garrison and Ruth P. Simpson. The funeral will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday at Bethel United Methodist Church by Rev. Stewart Crank and Rev. Dave Gilbert with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
