Burlington-Ruby Haney Meredith, 91, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at ARMC surrounded by her family. She was born in High Point, NC August 22, 1926, to Dora Roach Haney and John Thomas Haney both deceased. She was the wife of William Lee Meredith, Jr. who died in 2011.
Ruby attended school in High Point and in San Diego, California. She was employed by the government, Adjutant General office and Duke Power in High Point. Ruby retired from Kayser Roth in Burlington. Ruby was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She served as a Sunday School teacher and secretary and treasurer of the Builders Sunday School Class. Ruby in her early years served as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She was also a member of the Lady Lions Club serving for many years as President of the club. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her son, John T. Meredith of Burlington; daughters, Kipsey Ireland and husband Bill of Atlanta, Georgia and Rebecca Dunlap of Yorktown, Virginia; granddaughters, Dr. Meredith Ireland of Atlanta, Georgia and Dr. Taylor Dunlap of Boston, Massachusetts and son-in-law, Jeffrey Dunlap of Yorktown, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Lee Meredith, Jr.; seven sisters and one brother.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Front Street United Methodist Church Chapel by Rev. Marshall Old. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
