Ruby Hicks

Mrs. Ruby Gregory Hicks, age 84, of Liberty, went to be with Lord on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Alamance County after several weeks of failing health. Born in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Talmadge Gregory and the late Ruby Bringoff Gregory. She retired from Dansen Contemporary after working until the age of 70. Ruby's quick-wit, directness and zest for life kept her young at heart and enjoying her Saturday dance until her health began to fail in August 2014. She will be missed. Mrs. Hicks is survived by her son, Robin "Bob" Chatham and his wife, Rusty, of Burlington; three grandchildren, Cari C. Fogleman and husband, Richard, Dustin Lynn Chatham and fianc, Amy, and Ashton C. Tippins and husband, Kyle; and two great grandchildren, Christian Tate and Raegan Olivia; her beloved pup, "Cricket"; and so many special friends and neighbors in the Liberty area. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cynthia Hicks Hurst; two sons, Richard T. Chatham and Montie L. Hicks; and a sister, Jacquelyn "Jackie" G. Musgrave. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington by Dr. C. Paul Willis. The family will host a reception following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Table of NC, 205 West Weaver Street, Carrboro, NC 27510.
