Burlington Ruby Dell Chambers, 93, of Elon, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 8, 2007. She was born July 21, 1914 in Rockingham County, NC to the late George and Emma Crumpton. The wife of the late Charlie Chambers and loving mother of four sons, Ruby will be remembered as an honest, easy-going, hardworking woman who lived an exemplary Christian life. She could often be found tending her flowers, crocheting an afghan, baking in the kitchen or fishing at a local pond or lake. Ruby faithfully attended worship and made sure her sons were raised in the church as well. Her good-natured sense of humor brought many smiles to those around her and she will be sorely missed by her family and countless friends. The last four years of her life were spent at Blakey Hall Assisted Living where she was loved by many and cared for tirelessly by her daughter-in-law, Shirley Chambers. She is survived by her three sons, Charles "Elmo" Chambers, of Glen Raven NC, Wayne Chambers Sr., of Reidsville NC and Todd Chambers and wife Kimberly of Apex NC, a sister, Gladys Hensley, and husband Howard, of Altamahaw NC, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son Keith Chambers, a granddaughter, a sister Ida Collie, brothers; Aaron Crumpton, Roy Crumpton and Hubert Buck Crumpton. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Randy Hobbs. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. and other times at the home of Shirley Chambers, 3904 Danieley Water Wheel Rd., Burlington.
