Roy Younger

Mr. Roy Lee Younger, age 74, of Gibsonville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in the Hospice and Palliative Care wing of Moses H. Cone Hospital after several months of failing health.
A native of Guilford County he was the son of the late John Osborne Younger, Sr. and the late Mary Fannie Ward Younger. Roy retired from Cone Mills in 2005 after 47 years of service. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed woodworking, metal detecting and collecting coins. He was a loving and devoted father and truly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Younger is survived by his two children, Jennifer Y. Stallings and her husband, Keith, of Burlington and Jon T. Younger and his wife, Lerah, of Whitsett; a precious granddaughter, Judith Olivia Younger; five sisters, Betty Smith, Janie (James) Brewer, Linda (Charles) Huey, Norma (Jim) Wasko and Debra (Wayne) Sloop; two brothers, Wayne Younger and Charlie (Carolyn) Younger; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ann Campbell; and a brother, John O. Younger, Jr.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Friday, June 23, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Grinnell. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:45 PM Friday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the sister, Betty Smith's residence, 5942 Carmen Rd., Gibsonville.
