Roy Blalock, Jr.

Roy Lee Blalock, Jr., 84, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Alamance Regional Medical Center of complications following a recent surgery. He was born April 30, 1930 in McCormick County, SC to the late Roy Lee, Sr. and Erin Abercrombie Blalock. He was married to Betty Lou Bowman Blalock for 57 years. He had served in the U.S. Air Force and even played on the Air Force baseball team as a pitcher. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Roy retired from Lucent Technologies as an Engineering Design Associate and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He enjoyed wood working, sports, the beach and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of the home, a daughter Melissa Walters and husband Tom of Alexandria, VA, a son Steve Blalock and wife Jan of Winston Salem, grandchildren, Dr. Rebekah Wilson of Jacksonville, FL, Will B. Wilson IV of Salisbury, NC, Jessica Blalock and Jonathon Blalock both of Winston Salem, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Carolyn Wilson and a brother Don Blalock. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00 8:00 PM Monday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
