Elon – Ross J. Sharpe, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Blakey Hall Retirement Community. A native of Guilford County, he was born November 5, 1930 to the late Henry Rossie and Nellie Eliza Kernodle Sharpe and was the husband of 65 years to Carol Foust Sharpe who survives.
Ross served his country as a US Army veteran. He was a former deacon and elder at Alamance Presbyterian Church and may be best remembered for his diligent and dedicated work ethic. In his earlier years, he worked as an accountant in the banking industry, as an administrator in business and was involved with family farming activities. Ross absolutely loved traveling with his wife Carol, venturing to some of the most desirable places in the United States and internationally. In later years, he established a travel business, enjoyed directing travel tours and gardening. He seemed most proud of his final accomplishment of becoming a published author.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Wayne Erwin Sharpe, Wesley Alan Sharpe (wife – Leslie Sharpe) and a brother, James W. Sharpe (wife - Lois Sharpe), nieces, nephews, and their families.
A private service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 by Pastor Jess Rigel. The graveside service will take place at Alamance Presbyterian Church later in the afternoon.
