Rose Champion

Rose Lee Smith Champion, age 76, of 3027 Maple Ave. passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Hospice Home. A native of Durham County, she was the wife of the late William Bobby Champion and daughter of the late Needham Smith and Evelyn Clark Smith who survives. She was retired from American Tobacco Co. in Reidsville. She and her deceased husband were active members of Christian Fellowship Church in Reidsville. Survivors include her son, Ricky W. Champion of Elon; mother, Evelyn Clark Smith of Berea, NC; grandchildren, Erica Nicole Champion of New York and Zachary Carter Champion of Colorado; sisters, Gertrude "Trudy" Black and husband Buddy, Mary Ann Zeits and husband David all of Berea and Edith Wrenn and husband George of Timberlake; brother, Needham Smith, Jr. and wife Jeanie of Hillsborough. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, and sisters, Bobbie Jean Pulley and Betty Lou Massey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 25, 2015 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bill McKinney, pastor of Christian Fellowship Church. Interment will follow in Christian Fellowship Church Cemetery, 737 Madison St., Reidsville, NC 27320. Mrs. Champion will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6-8pm Thursday. At other times the family will be at the home of her son, Ricky Champion; 111 Old Well Dr., Elon, NC.
