Ronald Charles "Ron" Silby, 79, of Graham died on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Hospice Home. He was born in London, England to the late John Charles and Nellie Rose Prior Silby and was married to Maureen Clements Silby who survives. Ron was a master painter and decorator, a very talented English soccer player and served in the British Army in Africa and Egypt. He is survived by his wife of the home, sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Ginger Silby of Burlington, Stephen and Sally Silby of Waterford, Ireland; grandsons, Trevor Silby and Lynn Doby; granddaughters, Ciara Silby and Sarah Silby; great granddaughter, Karsyn Doby; and sisters, Marie Taylor of Burlington, Joyce White of Gibsonville, Irene Hayward, Doreen Ellis and Betty Gonsalves, all of London, England. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Rich Greenway with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home of his son, Kevin Silby, 269 Coachlight Trail, Burlington. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
