Ronald Calvin "Ronnie" Leath, 69, of Pagetown Rd. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 16, 2012 at his residence after several years of declining health and a one year battle with cancer. He was a native of Alamance County. Mr. Leath retired from Alamance-Burlington School System and was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church where he served as deacon, choir member, usher, a member of the Care and Share Club and the Laymens Fellowship and was a former member of the A.O. Civitans. His hobbies included sports and auctions. He coached little league baseball teams and also umpired for many years. Ronnie was a licensed auctioneer before he had to give it up for health reasons. He also loved cooking meals for the Laymens Fellowship and for Family Nights at his church. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Shirley Cox Leath of the home; son, Douglas Christy Leath of Gibsonville; two grandchildren, Caroline Leath and Justin Lauren Leath of Burlington; step great grandson, Taylor Cole and was looking forward to the birth of his great grandson, Carter, at any time. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel "Danny" Ray Leath; parents, Dan and Elizabeth Crutchfield Leath; grandparents, Rev. G.C. and Cassie Crutchfield and Otis and Stella Patterson Leath. The funeral service will be held at Bethlehem Christian Church at 2:00 PM Wednesday by Rev. Dave Gilbert with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
