Romona Burchette

Liberty- On Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 5:06 p.m., Romona Delaine Isenhour Burchette, loving soulmate, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away at the age of 73.

Romona was born on August 28, 1947 in Union County, NC to Sirlester L B Isenhour and Martha Elizabeth Price Shermann. She worked as Graphic Coordinator for Republic Mortgage Insurance Company until her retirement. She lived the last seven years in Liberty, NC with the love of her life, best friend and soulmate, Wade L Pollard. She was Mother to Laura Elizabeth Biggers Sigler and Kimberly Gretchen Biggers Morris, Nana to Lauren Olivia Willard Hughes, Great-Nana to Colton Wiley Pruitt and Nana to numerous young people who had grown to love her and whom she cared for deeply.

Romona loved her family, those who were related biologically and those who were not. She was especially close to her immediate family and cousins. She was a breast cancer survivor and a Type 1 Diabetic who jumped every hurdle in her way for many years. Romona loved a good cup of hot coffee, dancing, playing card games, NASCAR and listening to music, especially the Eagles. She was an extremely talented artist and had an amazing singing voice. She also had a knack for burning bread and preparing overly dry cornbread. She had no filter and in a very loving, yet southern tone, could let you know exactly how she felt about any situation. She was quick-witted and often harsh, but she was giving and loved unconditionally. She was notorious for making humorous comments and always quoting, Larry the Cable Guy, by saying, “now that’s funny right there, I don’t care who ya are!”

Romona was preceded in death by her father, Sirlester Isenhour, her mother Martha “Lib” Shermann, her sister, Pam Steffes and a great granddaughter, Abigail Wrenn Pruitt. She is survived by her life partner, Wade Pollard, her two daughters, Laura Sigler and Kym Morris, her granddaughter, Olivia (and husband Lee) Hughes, great grandson, Colt Pruitt, as well as, many cousins and her niece and nephew.

There will be a memorial service on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home on S. Church St. in Burlington, NC at 2 o’clock p.m.
