Roger Galen Thompson, age 74, of Altamahaw Race Track Road passed away at 9:30 am on Friday, September 26th, 2014 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 54 years to Brenda Saul Thompson and son of the late William Lonnie and Ruth Barber Thompson. Roger was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church and the Alamance Senior Men's Golf Association. He was a member of the Triad Officials Association for 26 years and was recognized on the Wall of Honor by the NCHSAA. Roger retired from Lucent Technologies after 40 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Saul Thompson of the home; children, Craig Thompson and wife, Sharon; Shelia Thompson Denton and husband, Jimmy; and Kim Thompson Williams and husband, Keith; and Sammy Pickard. Roger was proud of his grandchildren, Lyndsey Lowe and husband, Jeff; Tyler Thompson and wife, Carin; Kaleigh Denton, Kassie Denton Waller and husband, Trent; Kaleb Denton, Kaison Denton, Kameron Williams, and Konner Williams. He enjoyed his great-grandchildren, Lucy and Judah Lowe. Other survivors include his siblings, Barbara Bryant and husband, Arnold; Ronnie Thompson and wife, Peggy; sister-in-law, Helen Thompson; brother-in-law, Ben Beckom; sisters and brothers-in-law, John and Kathy Garrison; Leon and Betty Saul and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Desmond Thompson, Marie Huffines, and Jane Beckom. Roger loved his family and enjoyed many special times with them. He was an avid sports fan and had a special sense of humor. He was passionate about the things he loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 29th, 2014 at Bethlehem Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 3-5 pm on Sunday, September 28th, 2014. Memorials may be sent to Bethlehem Christian Church Youth Program at P.O.
