Rodney Smithey

Rodney Lambert Smithey, 57, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. Rodney was born February 20, 1953 in Guilford County to the late Loftin Lambert Smithey and Virginia Busick Smithey who survives. Mr. Smithey worked for many years at Lorillard Tobacco Company and was a member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church. Survivors include his mother, Virginia Busick Smithey of Brown Summit; his wife of 36 years, Cynthia Hamilton Smithey of the home; a son, Gabriel Shane Smithey of Brown Summit; a daughter, Andrea Hope Smithey of Brown Summit; a grandson, Chase Smithey; and a sister, Angela Lewis of Haw River. A funeral service to celebrate Rodney's life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Apple's Chapel Christian Church with the Rev. C. Allen Myers, III and Rev. Dr. Dace Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday evening at Apple's Chapel Christian Church and other times at the home.
