Burlington- Robert “Bobby” Carroll Peeler, Jr., 71, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 9, 2021 at his home. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Robert Carroll Peeler, Sr. and Willa Dean Jarrett Peeler. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Beryl Laughlin Peeler for almost 52 “long and hard years” as Bobby would joke.
Bobby graduated from Western High School in 1968 and then joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served his country from 1968-1972. He retired in 2001 as the co-owner of a computer programming company in Greensboro. One of his greatest joys was being able to use his God given talent to play in the band for over 35 years at People’s Memorial Christian Church where he was a beloved member. Bobby enjoyed playing in bands including the Peeler Brothers Band, The Persuasions and numerous others since he was 13 years old.
He spent many hours volunteering with the Muscular Dystrophy Association as well as other non-profit organizations over the years. Other things he loved to do included coaching his daughters little league softball team and his grandson’s basketball team when they were young as well as collecting fishing lures and reels but mostly, he just loved spending time with his friends and family. Bobby was known for his wit and dry sense of humor, but he was also very generous and kind.
He is survived by his wife, Beryl; daughter, Tara Peeler Davis and her husband, Chad; grandson, Conner Dove and his girlfriend, Lily Pope; sisters, Susan Pendergrass and Terry Underwood; brothers, David Peeler and Todd Peeler; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a special uncle, James D. “Uncle Jim” Peeler.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at People’s Memorial Christian Church by Rev. David Grinnell and Pastor David Gordon. The family will receive friends following the service.
