Roberta Lee Dawson Aliff, 76, passed away unexpectedly Thursday January 4th at Coble Creek Healthcare after eighteen months of failing health. She was born March 24, 1941 in Washington, DC to the late Harold and Rosa Smith Dawson and was married to the late Harley Lewis Aliff. Roberta served as the administrative assistant to the Head Personnel Director for the U.S. Postal Service. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church when she was able and in her spare time crocheted blankets to give to the homeless. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with them. Roberta "did not suffer fool's well" as she would let you know what she thought.
She is survived by her children; Roberta "Robbie" Byrd and husband, Tim; William "Bill" Eller; grandchildren, Jessica Eller, Nichole Tucker, James "Andrew" Byrd, Lauren Byrd; great grandchildren, C.J. Dufour, Lucas Dufour, Saige Haynes, Madisyn Haynes and Lexi Haynes. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; a sister June Ellen Dawson and a brother Lawrence W. Dawson.
The service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Rev. Nathan Hooks. The family will receive friends 1:00 - 1:45 PM prior to the service in the parlor.
