Robert Ward

Elon, NC Robert Spencer Ward, age 71, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 53 years to Treva Gann Ward who survives. Spencer retired after 37 years with Burlington Industries, Williamsburg Plant. He attended Cherry Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of the NC Bowhunters Association, Wild Turkey Federation and a member of the NRA. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and car enthusiasts. Spencer was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Treva Gann Ward of the home; sons, Robert "Bobby" Anthony Ward and his fiance, Donna Bennett of Elon, David Spencer Ward and his wife, Robin of Elon and William "Billy" Sterling Ward and his girlfriend, Sonja Austin of Elon; grandchildren, William Spencer Ward, Blake Anthony Ward, Remington Lee Ward and Yasmine Danielle Ward;step grandchildren, Matt Morris, Andy Morris and Ryan Austin; step great grandchildren, Sierra Morris and Erin Morris; sister, Jeanette Ward Bland and her husband, Cecil Bland, Jr. of Elon; cousins, Raleigh Pat Simpson and William Janice Terrell both of Elon; aunt, Lena Terrell of Gibsonville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Clydren Ward and Nora Lucille Terrell Ward. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Tim Taylor and Pastor Ernest Sartin. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
