Robert Simpson, Sr.

Robert Orienton Simpson, Sr. wonderful husband, dad, pawpaw and friend went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 23, 2005. Please join us as we celebrate his life on Tuesday, December 27th at Staley Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be held in the sanctuary of the church 10-11 AM followed by a celebration service at 11 AM with Rev. Bennie Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Carolina Christian Church Cemetery. At other times the family will be at their home 1427 Sandy Cross Rd. Pawpaw, as he was affectionately known, is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bertha Simpson, children: Robert Simpson Jr. and wife Kim, Sharon Thompson and husband Craig, Karon Parker and husband Cliff, all of Elon and Teresa Crawford and husband John of Apex, sisters Dolly Buckner, Billie Sue Smith and husband Rev. Bennie D. Smith, 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and golfing partners. Papaw was born February 3, 1929 to Robert H. and Swannie Simpson. He was a Korean War veteran and a retired employee of Bobbitt Laboratories. He was a charter member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church. To know Pawpaw was to love him. His love of family and friends was evident in everything he did family beach trips at Topsail Island, golf outings, building model airplanes, gardening with his wife, enjoying his grandchildren all were done with enthusiasm and energy. Oh, how he will be missed!
