It is with heavy hearts that we share that Robert Allen “Bob” Queen, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on December 16, 2024, at the age of 77.
Bob was born in Kent, Ohio on May 22, 1947, to Richard Ray Queen and Kathryn Mae Queen (both deceased). He attended Elyria High School in Elyria, Ohio, where he met the love of his life and wife of 55 years - Sara “Lynn” Queen who survives. Following graduation, he served 15 months in the U.S. Army in Korea. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio.
In addition to his wife Lynn of the home, Bob is survived by his two children – son Scott of Flat Rock, NC, daughter Alison of Cornelius, NC, daughter of the heart Sarah Glazier of Cornelius, NC, granddaughter Alli (Sam) Tronolone of Charlotte, NC, brother Dennis (Valerie) of Naples, FL, and his faithful four-legged friend and shadow Annie. Bob was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Queen.
Throughout his career, he held a number of positions in advanced manufacturing management for companies including Parker Hannifin, Rego Products, and Stoneville Furniture. Those with whom he worked always described him as good mentor and friend. A private and caring person, Bob was always there to support his family, friends and neighbors - many of whom he had known for 40 years. Whether it was automotive, mechanical, landscaping, or simply running errands, he never hesitated to assist anyone in need. An avid runner and observer of good nutrition, Bob ironically found refuge in the kitchen as a self- proclaimed pizza and pastry chef. He never produced a pizza without announcing to those at the table it was “the best one I have ever made.” He was also known for announcing his pending departure from family gatherings by turning to our mother and saying with a smile on his face “Get Your Coat!”
A private family service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, with a larger gathering to be hosted in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the American Heart Association.
