Robert Arthur Norling, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Chicago, IL on December 16, 1930 to the late Robert Harold and Amanda Andres Norling and was the husband of 71 years to Jean Meisinger Norling of the home.
Robert attended Trailhead Church and was a former member of The Lamb’s Chapel. He was an executive in the Aerospace Industry, President of Bell Aerospace in Buffalo, NY and worked at the Department of Defense in Washington DC. He enjoyed tennis, golf, fishing and was a gifted athlete. He also enjoyed cruises and traveling around the world to places like Israel and Switzerland. Robert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; sons, Edward Norling, Robert D. Norling and wife Janet, Bruce D. Norling and wife Janet; grandchildren, Jonathan, Jaclyn, James, Garrett and Colby and a niece, Susan Blackburn and husband Pete. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy Gasper.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 21, 2022 by Rev. Joshua Gresham at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel (2205 South Church St., Burlington). The family will receive friends from 9:30am until 10:45am at the funeral home. All are invited to Trailhead Church (615 W Harden St, Graham) immediately following the service for food and fellowship.
