Robert Leath

Mr. Robert Otis "Bobby" Leath, age 79, of Burlington, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Twin Lakes Nursing Center after several years of failing health.
A native of Caswell County he was the son of the late Daniel Otis Leath and the late Stella Patterson Leath and was married for over 54 years to Mrs. Ann Chandler Leath, who passed in 2013. Bobby was a retired tobacco farmer and was a longtime member of Union Ridge Christian Church, where he was on the Golden Age Committee, served on the Usher Board and was a sound technician. He loved music and led a band called the "Variations". Bobby loved baseball and was drafted to play Semi-Pro baseball in the Cleveland Indians organization. After his professional career was over his love of the sport carried into softball, which he actively continued to play into his senior years.
Mr. Leath is survived by his two children, Roxann Leath Cox and her husband, Marty, and Jason Chandler Leath and his girlfriend, Lisa, all of Burlington; a granddaughter, Chandler Ann Leath; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a sister, Margaret Leath Simmons; and two brothers, Daniel Leath and Howard Leath.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Union Ridge Christian Church by Rev. Dan Ficklin. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Leath will lie in state in the church sanctuary 45 minutes prior to the service and the family will receive friends following the committal service in the church fellowship hall and other times at his daughter, Roxann's residence.
