Robert Gunn, Sr.

Robert "Bob" James Gunn Sr., 78, of 1923 Woodland Ave. in Burlington, NC passed away June 12, 2009 and was born May 7, 1931, San Francisco, CA. His wife, Marilyn Frederick Gunn of 57 years, survives him. He was a Korean War veteran. Mr. Gunn was a native of California where he and his wife raised their family. He attended the University of Miami and the University of Oregon where he attended Law School. Mr. Gunn retired after 35 years of service as an Insurance Litigation Specialist. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Gunn is survived by his wife of the home, children, Robert James Gunn Jr. of Burlington, NC, Suzann and Gregory Silva of Alameda, CA, Alyson and Don Otrambo of Anaheim, CA, Carolyn and Jeffery Miller of Hays, NC, and Timothy and Pilar Gunn of Mebane, NC, his sister Elouise Gunn Cutler and brother Harry Klaar. Seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive Mr. Gunn. Mr. Gunn is preceded in death by his parents Col. Thomas F. Gunn Ret. and Vivian Alice Davis Gunn. He is also preceded by his three brothers Thomas F. Gunn Jr., William D. Gunn, and Lt. Col. Arthur G. Lumbard. The celebration of his life will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel.
