Jayess, Mississippi Robert "Buck" Thomas Buckner, age 68, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was a native of Person County and the son of the late Paul Samuel and Gladys Watson Buckner. Robert was the founder of Buckner Rental Service and the owner and operator of Redfish Rentals in Houma, Louisiana. He was a veteran of the US army serving during the Vietnam War. Robert was a lifetime member of Nascar Speedway Club, Mount Rushmore National Parks and the Harley Davidson Club. He enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter. Survivors include his daughters, Pamela Buckner and her partner, Molly Parker of Graham, Robin Bonvillain and her husband, Blaine of Gulf Shores, Alabama; granddaughters, Hayley Bonvillain and Hilary Bonvillain; sisters, Phyllis Bowes and husband, Neal of Leasburg, NC, Priscilla Weaver of Saxapahaw, Brenda Compton of Burlington and Joan Gregg and husband, Scott of Mebane; brother, Paul Buckner and wife, Deborah of Burlington and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ricky Buckner and former wife and mother of their children Barbara Keatts Buckner. A celebration of life in a casual setting will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Neal Bowes. The family will have a gathering prior to the service from 12-1:45 pm at the funeral home. The graveside service will follow at Cooper's Family Cemetery with military honors provided by the 82nd Airborne Division. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Humane Society of Alamance County, HSAC, P O Box 5117, Burlington, NC 27216.
