Robert Lee Bryant, age 76, of 1113 McPherson Rd., died suddenly at home on Monday, August 17, 2009. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Claude E. and Mary Evans Bryant and husband of Caren Cole Bryant, who survives. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and was a member of St. Mark's Reformed Church. He retired from Carolina Biological Supply after 42 years of service and was most recently employed by Burlington Parks and Recreation as "Conductor" of the train. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Caren Cole Bryant of the home; daughters, Deborah B. Webb and husband Kelly and Sandra B. Moser; grandsons, Kelly Mitchell Webb, Jr. and Robert Taylor Webb; 3 sisters, Frances Morgan, Hallie Hall, and Betty Gerringer; 2 brothers, Herbert Bryant and Arnold "Moe" Bryant. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William Harvey Bryant, Fred Franklin Bryant; Claude "Tuni" Bryant, Jr. and Allen Bryant. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at St. Mark's Church by Rev. Bob Disher and Rev. Ben Bishop. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Bryant will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm Tuesday and at the residence at other times. Members of the Old CBS softball team are asked to sit together as honorary pallbearers.
