Robert Barnes, Sr.

Burlington-Robert "Bob" Edwin Barnes, Sr., 76, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at ARMC. He was born in Chester, South Carolina to the late Robert Banks Barnes and Lula J. Morgan Barnes. He was the husband of Lynn Fehrman Barnes who survives.
Bob was a retired roadway grading contractor for various companies over the years. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he proudly served as a chef during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of Carpenter's Shop Church in Graham and a former member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church. Bob was a 32nd degree Mason with the Thomas M. Holt Lodge # 492 and a member of the Burlington Shrine Club. Bob was an avid Clemson and Nascar fan and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of the home; Lynn F. Barnes and daughter, Nikki Barnes Solomon and husband, James Henry of Burlington; grandchildren, Haley, Ayden, Logan, Emely "Bulletbutt" and Ellah "Redbird" and several special nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister; Brenda Love and her husband, Ralph.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Doug Durham and Rev. Don Pegg. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Navy. The family will receive friends from 1:30- 2:45 pm prior to the service on Sunday and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
