Richard "Dick" Holopainen

Richard Holopainen,80, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at the Hospice Home. He was born in Owen, WI to the late Arne and Anne Kytola Holopainen and was married to Gayle Holopainen for 16 years who survives.

I’m sitting here with the best man that I have ever known trying to tell you how special he was. The spirit has left his body and returned to the God who breathed life into him almost 81 years ago. Dick Holopainen, the man God loaned me for sixteen years taught me so much about unconditional love. The most extravagant thing he ever owned was a brand new set of Ping golf clubs. His wants were few and his circle of people that he loved was limited but if you were blessed enough to be one of those, you were truly blessed, my children can tell you that. They were so happy because of the joy he brought to me. We had an amazing life together and he kept every promise that he ever made to me. If you knew him, please take a little time to remember him and thank God that the world got to share him for too short of a time. Praise God that he stayed long enough these past two weeks to help me find peace and to allow him to leave us. His family did the best we knew how to honor his wishes which were simple just like the life he lived. I’ll see you in the morning.

Left to cherish his memory along with his wife are his daughter, Janette Cooper; son, Rick Holopainen (Stephanie)  and special grandchildren, Casey and Lexie; step-daughters, Sandra Lynne Mayes (Robert); Jamie Ninh (Hung); step-son, Mark Wimbish; 8 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; his furbabies Sheba and Abi.
