Burlington, NC Richard Charles Woessner, Sr. age 94, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Twin Lake Health Center. He was native of Brooklyn, New York and the husband of the late Ruth Elaine Vogel Woessner. Richard retired as an engineer with Motter Press and was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church. He served in the US Navy as a hard hat diver in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Wilson and her husband, David Clark of Greensboro and a son, Richard Charles Woessner, Jr. of Greensboro; grandchildren, Anne Wilson Lokken of Chicago, IL and William David Wilson of Minneapolis, MN and six great grandchildren and the extended children and grandchildren of David Clark. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, Charles Woessner and Camille Karnik Woessner and a sister, Camille LeCavalier. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Twin Lakes Chapel by Rev. Fr. Mark Wm. Menees and the family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to The Cooper Union, C/O The Office of External Affairs, 30 Cooper Square, New York, NY 10003.
