Richard Clarence “Richie” Oakley, Jr., 55, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 29, 1968 in Alamance County to Richard Clarence “Buck” Oakley, Sr. and Brenda Gail King Oakley who survives. Richie was the husband of 31 years to Amy Jordan McIntyre Oakley of the home.
Richie was the owner and operator of Oakley Landscaping and Yard Service for over 34 years. He was an avid UNC Tarheel fan who enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, playing golf but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Richie had such an outgoing personality that he never met a stranger. Richie was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend that will be dearly missed that knew him.
Survivors other than his wife, Amy McIntyre Oakley, and his parents, Buck and Brenda Oakley, include his son that he adored, Jordan Michael Oakley; a sister, Mandy Oakley Bundren and husband Mike; brother-in-law, Jason McIntyre and wife Dawn; father-in-law, Donald McIntyre and friend Carolyn Gilliam; nieces and nephews, Jamie Wagner (Noah), Cassie Bundren (Drew), Shelby McIntyre, Lucas McIntyre and Joshua McIntyre; great nieces and nephew, Skylyn, Ella and Lennon; his canine companion, Bella Jane and his grand puppy Gunner.
Richie was preceded in death by his brother, Chad Michael Oakley; maternal grandparents, Walter “Bud” and Ruby Dix King; paternal grandparents, D.C. and Ella Savannah Oakley; and his mother-in-law, Judith Jordan McIntyre.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for all the prayers, food, visits from family members, friends and neighbors for all their help, loving support and care that was shown to Richie during his illness, and to the Hospice staff for their wonderful support that was shown to the family and to Richie.
A memorial service to celebrate Richie’s life will be held at 5:00pm Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dan Ficklin and Pastor Paul Christopher. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the residence.
