Richard Adam Jordan, Jr., 83, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Compass Health Care Center. He was born on June 6, 1941 in Alamance County to the late Richard Adam Jordan, Sr. and Alese Catherine Minor Jordan, and was the husband of 40 years to Pearl Payne Jordan who died in 2006.
He retired after 25 years with Burlington Industries. After retirement he went to work for the Alamance Burlington School System as the custodian for Southern Alamance High School. Richard was a member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church and a US Army veteran serving in Germany. He enjoyed reading, old cars, riding and working with horses. Richard and Pearl loved children very much and couldn’t have their own, so they were foster parents to several children through the years.
He is survived by his sons, Jack Jordan and Dennis Jordan; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister, Dolly Benesch and her husband, Tony and several nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Payne Jordan; parents; brother, Tommy Jordan and nephews, Michael, Jordan, Taitym Benesch and James “J.B.” Jordan.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 3:00PM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Stu Johnson. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30-2:45PM. A private interment will follow for the family.
