Richard Lloyd Frankenfield, age 80, of 2206 Mather Ct., died on January 31st of complications following neurosurgery. Mr. Frankenfield was born on September 29, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in the Germantown neighborhood. He was a veteran of the U.S.Navy and served as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War. Dick attended LaSalle University and majored in business. He began his career in sales with Nabisco and later became a real estate broker. He married Hulda Corbett in 1954 and raised their family in Bucks County PA . Dick and Hulda moved to North Carolina in 1992 residing at Carolina Trace in Sanford where he enjoyed sailing, frequent rounds of golf and home maintenance projects. He also chaired the property committee at Trinity Lutheran Church. In 2005, Dick and Hulda moved to Twin Lakes in Burlington volunteering with the Memory Center, and also enjoyed participating in exercise class, card games and remote control sailing. He was also a member of the endowment committee at Friedens Lutheran Church in Gibsonville. Dick was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan and adored his beloved dog Lucy. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Hulda Corbett Frankenfield of Burlington; children, Richard Craig Frankenfield and wife, Patricia, of Doylestown PA, Eric Price Frankenfield of Willow Grove PA, Gay Frankenfield Albright and husband, William, of Atlanta GA; and three grandchildren, Daniel Frankenfield of Travis Air Force CA, Samantha Frankenfield and Hannah Frankenfield of Doylestown PA. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Twin Lakes Chapel and will be followed by a reception at the Peppertree. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, 1200 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27401* and Friedens Lutheran Church, 6001 N.
