Richard Fields

Richard Eugene Fields passed away November 7th 2018. A skilled brick mason, Richard had his hands and heart in many projects that stretched from central Florida to the Piedmont of North Carolina. Born on January 22nd 1963 in Alamance County, Richard and family soon moved to central Florida where he grew up loving the Florida Gators. His Tar Heel family can recall his longing for Zack's hot dogs and the crisp taste of a cold Cheerwine. He stayed close to his roots with his love for NASCAR and the Intimidator, Dale Earnhardt. He returned to Burlington in 2007 and worked construction on many projects in and around the Alamance County area.
Today, we reflect on the most important attribute of a mason. His hands and heart. The same blue collar hands that were battered and bruised from stones and bricks are the same ones that hugged tightly and loved deeply. The heart and pride of building from the ground up was same heart that loves with an undying bond.
Richard is survived by his sister Cheryl Lynn Scheider as well as aunts Debby Carter and Elma Ree Jones, along with several cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his parents John Christopher Fields and Donna Zolinda Durham Ashman, and uncles Eddie Gene Carter and James Dennis Jones, Sr.
