Mr. Richard Justice Duggins, age 83, of 2221 Durham St., Ext., died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at his home after several months of failing health. Born in Stokes County, NC, he was the son of the late William Perry Duggins and the late Mary Robertson Duggins and was married for over 63 years to Mrs. Ruth Wheeler Duggins, who survives. He retired from Glen Raven Mills after 36 years of service and attended Brookwood Church where he was a member of the Adult Bible Fellowship. Richard was an avid gardener and loved spending time in his garden. Richard is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Keith Duggins and his wife, Carolyn, of Graham and Raymond Duggins and his wife, Gwen, of Burlington; a daughter-in-law, Shelia Duggins of Graham; five grandchildren, Chris Duggins, Nikki Michaels, Doug Sherry Grant, Crystal Robert Duggins and Chance Duggins; seven great grandchildren, Tiffany Grant, Gary Cates, Kailey Rhodes, Ethan Michaels, Emily Hendricks, Nick Reynolds and Kayla Reynolds; and a special cousin, Georgia Wade of Burlington. He was preceded on death by his parents; a son, Larry Richard Duggins; an infant son, William Glen Duggins; an infant daughter, Linda Darlene Duggins; three sisters, Clara Parlier, Dorothy McCuiston and Mary Noell; and five brothers, Lindsey Duggins, Vance Duggins, Cecil Duggins, William Duggins and Jack Duggins. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bob Felts. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
