Richard "Dicky" Amos McCrickard, Jr.

Mr. Richard “Dicky” Amos McCrickard, Jr., 75, of Whitsett, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 3 at AuthoraCare Hospice Home.

Dicky was born July 24, 1948 in Martinsville, VA to Richard McCrickard, Sr. and Doris Hill McCrickard.  He was a devoted employee of Ciba-Geigy, where he retired after 30 plus years of service.  In his free time, Dicky could be found outside.  He was an avid golfer and played softball.  He could also be found faithfully cheering on his beloved Duke Blue Devils.  His greatest pastime was as a grandfather, and he loved spending all the time he could with his grandchildren.  

Dicky is survived by his wife, Janet McCrickard; daughter, Ami Alexander and husband David; son, Ryan McCrickard and wife Amanda; grandchildren, Ben Hogate, Ashlie McLauchlin, and Emma McCrickard; great-granddaughter, Emilia McLauchlin; and 6 brothers and sisters.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Haley.

 A celebration of Dicky’s life will be held at a later date.
