Burlington, NC Richard "Dick" Irvin Alcorn, age 78 went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at ARMC. He ws the husband of 58 years to Patricia Ann Blue Alcorn who survives. Richard retired as a truck driver with Associated Transport and later Chemical Leaman Tank Lines. He also was the shop steward for the Teamsters Union. He was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean War from 53' to 56'. Richard was an avid bowler and bowled on leagues at Country Club Lanes in Burlington. In his retirement years he raised beef cattle in Whitsett, NC. When he wasn't bowling or on the farm he could often be found, fishing rod in hand at the NC coast. Survivors include his wife of the home; daughters, Susan Marie Alcorn Flynn and husband, Robert of Raleigh, Connie Alcorn O'Hara of Burlington and Sandra Kay Alcorn of Haw River, grandchildren, Ryan Christopher Flynn, Robert Alexander Flynn, Nicole O'Hara Callaway; great grandchildren. Lux Mary Flynn . He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Gale and Helen Reynolds and brothers, Kenneth O'Day, Arthur O'Day and Thomas Alcorn. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
