Rev. Don “Donnie” Lee Moorefield, 67, went home to meet his heavenly father on Monday, January 4, 2021. He was born on November 14, 1953 in Alamance County to the late Willis Denton Moorefield and Louise Justice Moorefield.
Donnie was a former referee with North State Football Officials, Burlington Football Officials and the Burlington Recreation Department. He was the pastor of Victory Baptist Church until December 2015, where he loved to preach and worship with his church family. He was a 1972 graduate of Gibsonville High School and was an avid Tar Heel fan.
Donnie is survived by his sons, Gary Moorefield and wife Amanda, Jason Moorefield and wife Shannon; daughters, April Lynn and husband Trey, Mikaela Wrenn and husband Axel; grandchildren, Alec Moorefield, Jayce Rackley, Zoë Lynn, Dylan Moorefield, Madison Moorefield, Rachel Moorefield, Gunner Wrenn, Julian Moorefield, Hunter Wrenn, Harrison Moorefield and Connor Moorefield; a sister, Betty Thompson and husband Robbie “Big Lips”; sister-in-law, Pat Moorefield; several nieces and nephews; and his church family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Benny Lewis Moorefield.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bobby Fann and Mr. Eric Rudd with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The service will be live stream. Donnie will be available for viewing from 8:00am to 1:45pm Thursday prior to the service.
