Rev. Clarence Otis Clough, Jr., age 71, of Burlington, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health. Born in Asheville, NC, he was the son of the late Clarence Otis Clough, Sr. and the late Nellie Marie Smith Clough and was married for over 49 years to Mrs. Dorothy Etta Hardin Clough, who survives. Clarence was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and served during the Vietnam era. Rev. Clough was a minister most of his life and pastored several churches, including the Flint Hill Church of God in Troy, NC, the Sophia Church of God, the Barnardsville Church of God, and retired while pastoring the Gibsonville Church of God. Rev. Clough is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter, Ginger Clough Miller and her husband, David, of Mooresville; two sons, Lex Bryan Clough of DeWitt, MI and Rev. Dr. Otis L. Clough and his wife, Sonya, of Lowell, NC; seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and a half sister, Louise Hall of Sweetwater, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Claudia Clough; and a half brother, Carroll Merrill. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Russell Morris and Rev. Olin Tatum. Interment with military honors will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 2:45 Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
