Graham Rev. Marvin Craft Simpson, God's faithful servant, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 18, 2014. He was born August 23, 1928 in Bath County, VA to Andrew Milton and Lula Margaret Feaster Simpson. The family moved to the Centerville, PA area when he was five and he was educated in the PA school system and Frostburg College in Frostburg, MD. In 1946 he married Ruth Ella Rice who went to be with the Lord in 1991. In 1993 he married Mary G. Weathersby who survives. Before entering the ministry he worked for the Kraft Cheese Co. and later became sales manager for Queen City Dairy in Cumberland, MD. Rev. Simpson served as pastor of Southern Baptist churches in MD, upstate NY, CT and NC for 50 years. He retired in 2010 after serving 13 years at Kerr's Chapel Baptist Church in Caswell County. He was presently a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Graham, NC. Rev. Simpson and Ruth Ella had five children, Rev. Robert Lorraine Simpson of Odenton, MD, Edward Simpson of Princeton Junction, NJ, Rev. Timothy Carol Simpson of Gaithersburg, MD, William Simpson of Sarasota, FL, Krista Jim Hunter of Garden Ridge, TX. Also two stepdaughters, Debbie Kenny Royal of Bridgeton, NC and Sandra Benny Burton of Burlington, NC. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Rebecca Ruth Hunter of Garden Ridge, TX and grandsons, Jeremy Simpson of Canton, OH, Andrew Jennie Simpson of Ashburn, VA, Eric Nicole Simpson of Columbia, MD, Adam Hannah Simpson of Christiansburg, VA and Jeffrey Simpson of Gaithersburg, MD; step grandsons, Brian Andie Aeschlimann of Mechanicsville, MD, Mark Ginger Aeschlimann of Huntington, MD, David Melissa Mashburn of Eatonton, GA, Jeremy Stephanie Mashburn of Eatonton, GA, Lee Mashburn of Eatonton, GA, Greg Paula Simpson of Easley, SC and Jeff Hope Simpson of East Windsor, CT; twenty great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He is survived by a sister, Phyllis W. Randall O'Brien of Rawlings, MD. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary Hardy, Ruth Pullin and Grace Chedester; brothers, Paul, Elvin, Mark Bailey, Lewis, Wood, Kenneth, Roy, Quentin John and Darrell Simpson. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Virginia Simpson, Dot Simpson and Edith Simpson of Cumberland, MD, Nell Simpson of Grandy, NC, Elaine Sikes of Midville, GA and brother-in-law, H.A. Evelyn Mooneyham of Midville, GA. Local funeral services will be held at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel on Monday evening at 6:00 PM with Rev. Bob Stephenson officiating and visitation to follow. Another visitation will be held at Greenridge Baptist Church, 21925 Frederick Rd. RT 355, Clarksburg, MD on Tuesday from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Greenridge Baptist Church on Wednesday at 10:00 AM with Rev. Timothy Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Cumberland, MD with graveside services conducted by Rev. Quentin Simpson. The family would like to thank Dr. Sandeep Padint, Dr. Glenn Chrystal and the staff of Oncology and Radiology Departments and Dr. Bert Klein and Kernodle Clinic for their dedicated service. A special thanks to the staff at Hospice and Homecare Providers for their loving care and dedication. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or a charity of your choice.
