Rev. Norman “Jack” Calvin Lemons, 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on his birthday, November 12, 2023. He was born in Alamance County in 1944 to the late Norman James and Emma C. Lemons Latta and was the husband of 56 years to the late Jean Crouse Lemons.
Rev. Lemons was a US Navy Veteran serving 2 tours in Vietnam with the SeaBees. He attended Liberty University and received his Bachelor of Theology degree from Piedmont Bible College in 1978. In 1998 he was awarded the degree of Honorary Doctor of Divinity by Tabernacle Baptist Bible College. A pastor for over 40 years, Jack served as senior pastor at McLeansville Baptist Church for 30 years. In addition to his life’s purpose serving God and others, Jack was a lover of history, art, music, poetry and all things beautiful. He loved old black and white movies, fishing and boxing. A lover of the sand and salt water, Oak Island, NC had is heart. He was a beautiful person and touched many lives.
He is survived by his daughter, Christie Lemons Ragsdale and husband, Eddie of Brown Summit; son, Jonathan Mark Lemons and wife, Christine of Moseley, Virginia; grandchildren, Adam Williamson, Jordan Williamson, Andrew Lemons, Elizabeth Lemons Allen and husband, James; great grandchildren, J.R., Blake and Parker Allen and sister-in-law, Gay Crouse. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; brothers, Carl Nolan Lemons and Cotton Lemons and a sister, Norma Jay Lemons Palmer. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 17, 2023 at McLeansville Baptist Church. The burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 12 – 1:45 prior to the service at the church.
