Burlington - Felton Massey, 76, of Greystone Avenue celebrated his graduation day when he went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 1:46 AM. He is survived by his wife, Edna Price Massey of 55 years and was the son of the late Robbie and Ethel Massey. During a career with Matkins Glass Company, Felton came to know Jesus as his Lord and personal Saviour and answered the call to pastor, serving as Associate Pastor at Altamahaw Baptist Church. Upon graduation from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, Felton served as pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Reidsville, Glencoe Baptist Church and Nall Memorial Baptist Church. After retiring, he served as interim pastor at Northside Baptist Church and Faith Bible Chapel in Burlington and served as supply pastor at various other churches. Rev. Massey was one of the first chaplains at Alamance County and Memorial Hospitals. Growing up in Caswell County, Felton spent his early years farming and working as a carpenter. A former country league baseball player, he was fondly known as Molly. Survivors other than his wife of the home are his daughters, Kathy Wilkinson and husband Rob, Darlene Ray and husband Harold, and June Massey Graham and husband Randy, all of Burlington; grandchildren, Diane Young, Susie Barbour, Kaleena Alex Parker, Jordan Parker and Michael Wilkinson; four great grandchildren; brothers, J. R. Sylvia Massey, Wayne Nancy Massey, Wallace Ilene Massey; sister, Verly Haward Coleman; brother-in-law, Elward Rainey and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lois Rainey, and a grandson, D. J. Delmont. Special thanks to Dr. Kalsoom Khan and staff, Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell and the staff of Medical Village Pharmacy. Memorials may be made to Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 1106 E. Morehead St., Burlington, NC 27215 or to the charity of your choice. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 22, 2006 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Curtis Oakley, Rev. Darrell Massey and Rev. Mark Robertson. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
