Rev. Janey

Rev. Willard P. Janey, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 21, 2014. He passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. Rev. Janey was born in Vivian, West Virginia to the late Charlie Flem Janey and the late Nora Frances Rakes Janey and was married to the late Blanche Jones Janey who died in 2008. Rev. Janey retired from A.T. & T. and was a life member of The Telephone Pioneers of America. He was the founder and pastor for 30 years at Pilgrim Baptist Church; he attended North Fork High School in North Fork, West Virginia and graduated from Piedmont Bible College. Rev. Janey was a member of Belmont Baptist Church, a US Army Veteran of WWII serving in the 11th Airborne Division. Rev. Janey is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Willard Larry and Beatrice Janey, Gerald and Shelia Janey; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Richard Morris, Mary and Kenneth Bowden; grandchildren and spouses, Dwayne and Paula Janey, Connie and Ricky Grizzle, Stacy and Nick Martin, Rick and Jodi Morris, Robbie and Christy Morris, Shelli and Scott Morris, Ryan and Tina Bowden, David Janey, Seth Bowden and Tyler Bowden; great grandchildren and spouses, Michele and Joe Bailey, Kristi and Josh Howard, Taylor Grizzle, Faith Grizzle, Micah Janey, Hannah Janey, Emily Morris, Baylee Morris, Brianna Bowden, Brylee Bowden, Hayden Morris, Hallie Morris, Ellie Morris and Lacie Morris. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, granddaughter, Laura Denise Janey; great granddaughter, Savanna Gray Morris and brothers, Ray, Guy, Earl and Carl Janey. The funeral service will be held 11:00AM Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Belmont Baptist Church by Rev. Larry Janey, Rev. David Jackson and Rev. Garland Simmons. The burial will follow in the church cemetery along with a reception and visitation in the family center. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Monday night at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times the family will be at the daughters' home, Beverly Morris.
