Rev. Grant

William Robert Grant, age 93, of Twin Lakes Community, passed into the presence of God on February 11, 2009. Bill was born to James and Martha Lentz Grant in Oxford, Wisconsin, on January 11, 1916. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Glenna Kielhorn Grant. He is survived by his three children: Philip Robert Grant and wife Marci of Warrenton, VA; Faith Marie Mayes and husband Ken of Media, PA; and Marti Barkman and husband Greg, of Hawfields: 6 granddaughters; Lisa Grant Wells, Bob, and Allison Grant Dove, both of Warrenton, VA; Jordana Barkman Duncan Gabriel and Jessica Marie Barkman of Burlington, NC; Cherith Barkman Newton Eric of Greenville, SC; and Bethany Barkman Allgrove, Warren of Tyngsboro, MA, and 5 great grandchildren. Pastor Grant's life was spent in ministries in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; St. Lucia, West Indies; Benalla Australia; Mt. Manganui, New Zealand; Kearney, Nebraska; Houston, Texas; Eden, North Carolina, and finally as minister of pastoral care at Beacon Baptist in Burlington. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 4-5:30 in the Fellowship Hall of Beacon Baptist Church, Kirkpatrick Road, in Burlington. A memorial service will follow at 6 pm at the church. At other times the family will be at the Barkman home, 1670 North Jim Minor Road. Memorials may be made to the missions program of Beacon Baptist, 1622 Kirkpatrick Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
