Reita Adele Tuttle

May 13, 1943 — October 24, 2024

McLeansville

Reita Adele Tuttle, 81, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2024. She was born on May 13, 1943 in Greensboro, NC, to Hazel Maxine Rees, and was the wife of 59 years to her high school sweetheart, the late James “JC” Clayton Tuttle who died in October of 2021. Reita dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her community.

Reita grew up immersed in the church and became an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in McLeansville. There, she led the youth ministry and Bible school, nurturing the spiritual growth of many young hearts. Known for her warm spirit and generous heart, Reita’s love for her church community was evident. She contributed her talents by cooking, serving, and crafting for the annual Fall Festival BBQs, where her delicious desserts and creative crafts became cherished traditions.

Later in life, Reita joined Calvary Baptist Church, where she continued her service on the cooking crew for Wednesday night services, sharing her love for fellowship and faith through cooking.

After a fulfilling career, Reita retired from Guilford County Schools in 1999, where she served as Secretary for the Maintenance Department. In her retirement, she found joy in spending time with her grandchildren, tending to her flower gardens, baking treats, creating arts and crafts, shopping, watching her favorite soap operas, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, and her favorite soft drink was a diet coke.

She is survived by her children, Melissa Joyce of McLeansville, Patrick Tuttle and wife, Becky of Wichita, Kansas and Andrea Davis and husband, Steve of Jamestown; five grandchildren, Morgan Joyce and fiancé, Curry Hall, Chandler Joyce, Nicholas Davis, Colin Davis and Matt Davis and wife, Kate; her first cousin, Lois Miles; brothers, Kirk Perkins and wife, Nancy and Julian Perkins; her sisters, Kim Teeters and husband, Johnny, Nancy Swanson and husband, Dan and Heidi Perkins; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Reita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Clayton “JC” Tuttle; her grandparents, Opal Montgomery Rees and Otts Hubert Rees who raised her as their daughter, adored her and was the apple of their eye; her aunt, Daphne Miles and husband, Ben; her first cousin, Benji Miles; a sister, Diane Jackson; and a brother, Jeff Perkins.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated healthcare providers at The GrayBrier Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Trinity for their compassionate care.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Reita will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Bethel Presbyterian Church by Pastor Josh Eller with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00pm to 1:45pm Sunday at the church and other times at Melissa’s residence. Following the service the family invites everyone in attendance to join them in the fellowship hall for light refreshments and fellowship.
