Mrs. Regina Wright Donaldson, age 85, of Burlington, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 1, 1929, to the late Rev. Marshall and Katheryne Wright and was married for over 63 wonderful years to the late William Walter Donaldson, who died in January of 2014. God blessed them with three loving children, Gail Boswell and her husband, Eddie, the late Ann Fansler and the late Paul Donaldson and his deceased wife, Donna. Regina was blessed with ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild who all loved her dearly. She left a sister, Lavica Apple, and two brothers, Harold and Lowell Wright. Her first public work was at the Charles Store in downtown Burlington and later she worked for the computer department of Burlington Industries. Her last ten years of public work were for her husband at D & W Heating and Air Conditioning Company. She was also active in civil work and was a former President with the Graham Jayceetts. Regina loved to cook and serve delicious home cooked meals to her family and friends. Her specialty was pound cakes and she would take one when she visited family and friends. She loved to invite her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to come and enjoy a meal especially prepared for them. She was a people person and always found the good in everyone that she met. Regina loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served him gladly by teaching Sunday School and participating in evangelical visitation. Regina directed church music for many years. She was Secretary/Treasurer for Builders for Christ and served on the visitation team that witnessed over 280 precious souls pray to receive Christ as savior and Lord of their life. She also worked with Vacation Bible School and helped with the cooking at the fifteen parsonages they built for small churches. She was a strong support to her husband in his Christian work and often played the piano when he conducted Bible studies in rest homes. She loved to read her Bible and other good Christian books and would high-light sections which spoke to her. Most of her Bible is high-lighted. She was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church where she was active with WMU, Sunday School, Family Ministry, evangelical visitation and was a member of the Senior Adult Choir. She truly loved her Pastor and church family and they loved her. There will be a private interment at Alamance Memorial Park prior to her memorial service at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Grove Park Baptist Church, with Dr. Gene Hunsinger, Rev. Jeff Haygood and Dr. Chad Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the residence. The family sends their thanks and appreciation to Phoebe Cole, Loudelle King and Vickie Casey for their loving and tender care of Regina during her Hospice care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
