Raymond Thurau

Raymond Edward "Ray" Thurau, age 83, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at his residence after several months of declining health.
Born in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Edward Fritz Thurau and Anna Schwartz Thurau and he was married for fifty-nine years to Mrs. Elaine Barbara Adams Thurau, who passed in 2014. Ray was employed with Falcon Jet in Teterboro, NJ and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he had been very active. He enjoyed eating breakfast at The Park and dinner at Little Italy and having morning coffee with the "Breakfast Club" at Blessed Sacrament. Ray was an avid NY Mets, NY Rangers and NY Giants fan. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Thurau is survived by a daughter, Heidi Norwick and her husband, Howie, of Burlington, two sons; Jeff Thurau and Paul Thurau and his wife, Catherine, all of New York; grandchildren, Hannah, Edward and Jillian Norwick, and Shelbi, Karissa, Christopher (Julianna) and Theresa Thurau; and a great grandchild Lyla.Thurau. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Kenneth Thurau.
A funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Rev. Briant Cullinane, O.F.M. Conv. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and at other times at the home of his daughter, Heidi.
