Rachel McGowan

Rachel Lee Harris McGowan went to her heavenly home Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.  She was born May 25, 1932 in Alamance County to the late Ray Edward and Mozelle Tillman Harris and was married to the late Willis “Bill” Dewaine McGowan.  She was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and was a retired registered nurse from Dr. Rippy and Dr. Matthews office.  She was the neighborhood and church nurse. Going to the beach was one of her favorite activities. She loved people and enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Edward (Stephanie) McGowan, Rev. Steven Dewaine (Sherry) McGowan; grandchildren, Dustin (Jennifer) McGowan, Katherine (Ryan) Phillips; step grandchildren, Jamie (Erin) Mariano, Candice (Randy) Shelton; great grandchildren, Malakai McGowan, Lilly McGowan, Jamieson Mariano, Kayla Mariano, Sam Shelton, Austin Shelton, Chloe Shelton and a half brother David (Teresa) Harris.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; sister Peggy Wood; brother Frank  Harris and a step grandchild Charisse Wagner.

The service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 31st at Glen Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Bob Stephenson.  Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at her home.
