Gibsonville, NC Rachel Ann Hammer Lineberry, age 77, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. Guide me, perfect angel, to the place where my spirit can soar free from all earthly limitations. She was a native of Gibsonville and the wife of the late Herbert Lineberry. Rachel was a graduate of Gibsonville High School, and she dedicated her life to her church and community. She was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church of Gibsonville where she enjoyed serving others, especially children. Rachel was known throughout the community of Gibsonville as the "Easter Bunny" and "Mrs. Claus" at special events. She loved and collected thousands of angels, filling her home and her life with them. Rachel was affectionately referred to as "the Angel Lady". She always joyfully served as an "Angel on Call" to all her family and friends. Survivors include her sister, Dixie Hammer Linville of Winston-Salem; her niece, Dee Ann Robbs and her husband, Larry of Winston-Salem; her nephew, Chip Linville and his wife, Dianne of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law, Margaret Stevens of Greensboro; six beloved grand nieces and nephews and eight great grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Charles C. and Lottie May Riggins Hammer; brother, W.D. Hammer and an infant brother, Charles Hammer. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gibsonville by Rev. Jim Upchurch and assisted by Rev. Brian Ayers. A private burial will be held at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
