Rachel Charles

Rachel Ann Tipton Charles, 73, formerly of Big Stone Gap, VA, now of Burlington, NC was born April 19, 1032 in Lee Co., VA. She went to rest on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Graham, NC. She had made her home with her brother Richard Tipton and wife Eula Tipton for over 30 years. Her husband Clyde Charles, her mother, Grace Tipton, her father, Thomas Tipton, her brother, Robert Tipton and her sister, Elizabeth Holland, preceded her in death. She leaves behind two daughters Karen Charles McCall and Jean Charles Brumley of Mills River, NC, one granddaughter, Stacey Samotis, 3 grandsons, Jason Charles-Henderson of Asheville, NC, Matthew, Adam McCall of Mills River, NC, 3 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter. She has 3 brothers, Richard Tipton of Burlington, NC, Burley Joe Tipton of Asheville, NC and Jerry Tipton of Big Stone Gap, VA. Two sisters survive her; Sue Banks of Hendersonville, NC and Sandra Slagle of Big Stone Gap, VA. She is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews and a host of many friends. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, April 21, 2006 at the Church of God of Prophecy. The Burial will be Saturday April 22, 2006 at Shepherd Memorial Park.
