Rachel Carroll

Burlington - Rachel Groce Carroll, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Alamance Regional Hospital following several months of failing health. She was the wife of 59 years to Oscar "Dick" Neal Carroll. Rachel and Dick were married on February 14, 1958 and as Dick likes to tell, "in a pink house; quite fitting for a Valentine's wedding."
She was born April 19, 1942 in Yadkin County to the late Clyde E. and Frances Juanita Milsap Groce. Rachel dedicated her life to her husband, her children and her home. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and aunt. She was a mother figure to some very special people in her life and a friend to many.
She loved her flowers and plants, hummingbirds, vegetable garden and fishing. Mostly, she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar "Dick" Neal Carroll of the home; daughters, Donna Carroll and Jay Huffman of Graham, Sheila C. Jennings and husband Scott of Snow Camp, Juanita C. Aiken and husband Jimmy of Burlington; grandchildren, Wesley Wrenn, Angela Wrenn and Brad Jennings; great grandchildren, Wes, Lari, John and J.W. Wrenn, Mahala Staley, Heaven Roberton, Payton White, Keegan Jennings; great-great grandchild, Wes Wrenn and several special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nancy Flynn, Loretta Howell and Lorene Madren; brothers, Nelson Groce, Calvin Groce and Roy Groce.
The funeral service will be held 2:00pm on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jim Florence with the burial to follow at Kerrs Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the daughter, Juanita's home at 3733 Fleming Graham Rd. in Burlington.
