Rachael Lassiter

Rachael Marie Toombs Lassiter, 35, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Duke Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the wife of Ryan David Lassiter and was born June 3, 1975 in Rochester, NY to Robert E. Toombs and Maureen Feeney Toombs. She earned her Master's Degree in Education from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY, and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Rochester. After moving to North Carolina and teaching she went to work for the YMCA in Burlington, as a Youth/ After School Director/Camp Director. She genuinely loved all the children and called them her own. Her gracious smile and inviting hugs will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Rachael loved life and all that it was about. Survivors include her husband Ryan of the home, mother, Maureen of Rochester, NY, father Robert of Rochester, NY, a brother Raymond Toombs, wife Michelle nieces Emma, Grace & Elena, of Rochester, in-law's Carole and Mark Wahl of Rochester, sisters-in-law; Renee Kelly, Tracie Lassiter of Rochester, niece, Maddy & nephew Mitchell. The funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 534 Oxford St. in Rochester, NY. The entombment will follow at White Haven Cemetery.
