Polly Sue Clapp Higgins, 80, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 22, 2021. She was born in Guilford County to the late William Arton and Lake May Clapp and was married for 61 years to Jerry Richard Higgins who survives.
Polly was a loving wife and mother and was a caregiver to many people throughout her life including her parents and many other relatives. She loved God and her family most of all and gave her life to help them in any way she could. She also never missed an opportunity to watch Dr. Charles Stanley on TV. She loved flowers and always enjoyed seeing the beauty in them. Polly’s favorite poet was Helen Steiner Rice and she drew comfort and peace from her poems throughout her life. Polly will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her family.
Polly also loved the animals she had during her life: Chipper, Elle and Mollie. Her most recent love was a special poodle named “Weezie”. He brought much joy and comfort to her during the last few years.
During the last six years of her life, she spent a lot of time at the Wesley Long
Cancer Center. Although she had many sick days, she was always trying to make those she encountered feel better and tried to make them laugh. Many thanks goes to Dr. Ni Gorsuch and The Nursing Staff at Wesley Long Cancer Center. She loved each of you and the family thanks all of you for the loving care you gave to Polly.
A special thanks goes to the nurses and staff of AuthoraCare of Burlington for the kind, gracious and loving care given to Polly during the last two months of her life. She considered each of you special and appreciated all your care and many acts of kindness shown.
