Polly Ray Edwards, 78, of Burlington, passed away Monday, May 22, 2006. She was the wife of the late Hugh Erastus Edwards and the daughter of the late Herbert Eugene and Lina Parrish Lloyd Ray. She was a native of Orange County, employed at Mays Hosiery Mill and Glen Raven Cotton Mill then later retired as a hairdresser. Survivors include a sister Joan Ray Estes of Boonsboro, MD, step children, Ronald Edwards Bettie of Butner, Nancy Mansfield and Jenny Bunton both of Durham, Ann Hudgins James of Wilmington, Johnny Edwards of Mebane, Bobby Edwards Betty of Elon, and Joe Bulldog Edwards Deborah of Graham, step grandchildren were Wayne Edwards, Janie Thomas, Ginger Rutledge, Ronnie Edwards, Terri Edwards, Beverly Hartel, Dee Bare, April Oakes, Shane Coble, Wade Coble, Kristie Workman, Tracy Perkins, Dawn McIntyre, Paula Mitchell, Steven Edwards, Joseph Edwards II, Karie Edwards, Chris Sartin, and Jessica Edwards. She had 28 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a step great-granddaughter, Casi Oakes, sisters, Ella Ray Perry, Bobbie Ann Zimmerman, and a brother Julian Ray. A memorial service will be held at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington at 2:00 p.m. Thursday conducted by Rev. Daniel Bare. The family will receive friends following the service In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
